In Brukhovychi, Ukraine, a symbolic time capsule was placed as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center branch near Lviv. The letter inside, addressed to future generations, declares: Lviv is a city of strength and new opportunities for all who seek support, recovery, and hope for the future.
“We owe Ukrainian veterans, the wounded, and their families more than just gratitude. The past, present, and future of Lithuania and Ukraine are deeply intertwined. The reconstruction of this rehabilitation center, a project implemented by CPVA, represents Lithuania’s commitment to support those who have sacrificed so much for freedom. This center is yet another symbol of our resolve to stand with Ukraine,” emphasized Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė, Ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine during the ceremony.
The reconstruction project includes both the renovation of the existing building and the construction of a new wing. Once completed, the facility will increase its patient capacity from 70 to up to 120 beds.
Foundations for the new buildings and a pool have already been laid, and renovation of the existing premises is underway. All work is scheduled to be completed by December 2025.
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society and the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH are also contributing to the center’s renewal.
The project is being implemented by CPVA with funding from the Fund for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. The total value of the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program for War-Affected Individuals in Ukraine is €15 million. It includes the reconstruction of three rehabilitation centers in Lviv, Zhytomyr, and Dnipro, training for international experts, and the development of patient support algorithms.
