On 16 December 2014, a meeting of non-governmental organisations which provide support to Ukraine took place. Possibilities to strengthen coordination of civil society initiatives and cooperate on issues of support to Ukraine were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Office of the Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lithuanian Children and Youth Centre and Lithuanian Red Cross as well as representatives of various non-governmental organisations and civil movements.
Andrius Krivas, Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasised that the Lithuanian people are pro-active and not indifferent to Ukraine which finds itself in a highly complicated situation, he also expressed his gratitude to the participants of the meeting for their active engagement and support to Ukraine.
Strong contribution from the public significantly complements the support which Lithuania as an active member of the international donor community gives to Ukraine. In 2014, the Government of the Republic of Lithuania has already allocated LTL 884.6 thousand in humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the Government of Ukraine also receives expert support from Lithuania for implementation of the necessary reforms.
