Lithuania allocates humanitarian aid to Ethiopia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania has allocated EUR 10,000 in humanitarian aid to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for children affected by Ethiopia’s growing food crisis.

Ethiopia is suffering its worst drought in more than a decade, a condition exacerbated by El Niño. Some 8.2 million people currently need emergency food assistance. The situation is made far worse, however, by the fact that Ethiopia is hosting more than 730 thousand refugees in the country.

In response to international requests for humanitarian aid and initiatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania allocated humanitarian assistance to Georgia, Malawi, Nepal, Syria, Ukraine, Vanuatu, Yemen and the fight against Ebola in 2015.
