23 October 2024 The Government has approved a decision to contribute to the implementation of the European Commission-funded project "EU Integration Support Instrument for Ukraine".
The project aims to help Ukrainian public sector institutions and their staff manage and coordinate EU integration processes, translate EU legislation, and ensure public awareness of Ukraine's Euro-integration process.
The European Commission is providing €10 million for the three-year project. Lithuania will contribute €1 million from the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund.
"I know for a fact that Ukraine, like Moldova, will definitely become a member of the EU. The process will not be easy, and Lithuania stands together with the European Commission to help Ukraine's ministers, deputy ministers, parliamentarians, and negotiators to understand the scale of the challenge and to prepare for it properly," said Foreign Minister G. Landsbergis.
The project implementer is the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA). The national funding will be provided in three phases: €330,000 in 2025, €330,000 in 2026 and €340,000 in 2027.
The Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund has consistently contributed to Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery. Between 2022 and 2024, the Fund has supported the reconstruction of the Rūta kindergarten in Irpin, the reconstruction of the Lyceum in Borodianka, the renovation and equipping of educational institutions in Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region, the construction of an anti-radiation shelter in the kindergarten in Irpin, and the implementation of other significant projects.
