Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocated 50 thousand euros in humanitarian aid to an earthquake-stricken Taiwan.
"Our financial support for Taiwan's reconstruction efforts is a sign of solidarity with the people of Taiwan," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, said.
In 2024, on April 3, the strongest earthquake in 25 years hit Taiwan, killing 16 people, injuring over 1,000, and destroying many buildings and infrastructure, especially on the east coast. Many countries have expressed sympathy and support for Taiwan, including Lithuania.
In recent years, relations between Lithuania and Taiwan have deepened in many areas, including development cooperation. Taiwan has also significantly contributed to Lithuania's reconstruction projects in Ukraine.
