Lithuania supported the anticorruption project carried out by OECD in Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania allocated 30 thousand euros to the project carried out by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Ukraine. The project aims to strengthen the legal and institutional anticorruption environment, as well as international cooperation in the field of anticorruption.

“I am glad that Lithuania, on its way seeking OECD membership, can help Ukraine whose new Government is determined to implement necessary reforms. I hope that not only our financial contribution but also Lithuanian experts will be able to contribute to the reforms in the sphere of anticorruption”, said the Minister.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other institutions of Lithuania, actively share their experience of reforms with Ukraine. The work by the Lithuanian experts in Ukraine is of particular importance.

Lithuania consistently seeks a full-fledged membership in the OECD. An active cooperation is being developed in implementing the Lithuanian-OECD Action Plan for 2014-2015. According to this Plan, reviews of the Public Management and Regulatory Reform were started in 2014. In 2015, another five OECD reviews will be commenced: reviews of the state-owned enterprises, the Innovation policy, Economics, Market openness and Statistics.

At the present time Lithuanian institutions are participating in the work of 34 standing OECD committees, working groups and programmes. Lithuania has joined 15 international OECD instruments.
