Lithuania supports Ukraine’s nationwide polio immunization campaign

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania continues its efforts to help the affected Ukrainians and allocates EUR 50,000 in humanitarian aid to Ukraine under the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme. The funds will be channelled through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support a nationwide polio immunization campaign in Ukraine.

On 1 September, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine announced that polio had been identified in two cases. A nationwide polio vaccination campaign was launched in response to a polio outbreak in the country. The campaign will target 4.75 million children in Ukraine.

Lithuania has also provided more than EUR 580,000 in humanitarian assistance to help Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict in this country.
