On 16 June in Paris, on the OECD Ukraine Day Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas said that it was especially important to identify key priorities, focusing on the fight against corruption in the context of challenges facing Ukraine.
"It is difficult to implement all anticipated reforms simultaneously; thus it is necessary to identify the most important ones, definitely including the fight against corruption, ensuring transparency in the country's economic policy and giving the Government an opportunity to increase public awareness about it," said Kriščiūnas during a plenary session.
The participants of the session also discussed ways to ensure better coordination of assistance provided by the OECD and other international organizations to Ukraine. According to Kriščiūnas, it is important to achieve more efficient coordination between various international organisations, such as the OECD, the Visegrad Group and the European Commission. Moreover, the Vice-Minister pointed out that it was no less important for Ukraine to more effectively coordinate all assistance, both bilateral and multilateral, while implementing its reform plan.
As regards Ukrainian prospects for implementation of the reforms and meeting security challenges, the Vice-Minister noted that the war in eastern Ukraine should not stop the reform process.
On 22 April 2015, the OECD and Ukraine signed an Action Plan for strengthened co-operation. The OECD Ukraine Day was held as part of the Action Plan. The event provided a forum for stakeholders from the Government of Ukraine and OECD member countries.
