Development Cooperation with Algeria

The strategic objectives of Lithuania's development cooperation policy have been determined based on the needs of North African countries (Algeria), the Programme of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, and the priorities of the EU’s Policy.

Sectoral priorities of the development cooperation strategy for Africa in 2022‒2025:

1) the introduction of digital technologies to accelerate the economic and social development of the African continent;

2) the creation of jobs for young people and vocational training for women and girls;

3) the elimination of the obstacles to illegal migration.

Aid for Algeria

Lithuania has been implementing development cooperation projects in Algeria since 2018.

In 2018‒2019, two development cooperation projects are being implemented with the funds of the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion programme for 16,5 thousand euros. Support was provided in the fields of agriculture and the environment.
