Development Cooperation with Mali

The strategic objectives of Lithuania's development cooperation policy have been determined based on the needs of African countries (Mali), the Programme of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, and the priorities of the EU’s Policy.

Sectoral priorities of the development cooperation strategy for Africa (Mali) in 2022‒2025:

1) the introduction of digital technologies to accelerate the economic and social development of the African continent;

2) the creation of jobs for young people and vocational training for women and girls;

3) the elimination of the obstacles to illegal migration.

Aid for Mali

Lithuania has been implementing development cooperation projects in Mali since 2017.

In 2017-2019, three development cooperation projects are being implemented with the funds of the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme for 55,6 thousand euros. Support was provided in the areas of economic development and agriculture.

Humanitarian Aid

In 2021, Lithuania allocated 100 000 Eur to UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support Malian refugees.

In 2018, Lithuania allocated 15 000 Eur to UN World Food Program (WFP) to provide humanitarian aid to Mali.

In 2017, Lithuania allocated 20 000 Eur in support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for water, sanitation and hygiene program in Mali.

In 2016, Lithuania allocated 10 000 Eur to UN World Food Program (WFP) to provide humanitarian aid to Mali.
