Project goal

Embassy project

  • A study on the state of play of sustainable energy solutions in Turkey has been prepared.
  • Visits of Turkish and Lithuanian experts to Lithuania and Turkey have been organised.
  • A platform for exchange of ideas between experts has been created.
  • 4 remote seminars and 1 event in Istanbul with energy experts were organised.
  • A protocol of intent/cooperation was signed between Vilnius and Istanbul municipalities.

To promote women's managerial skills and entrepreneurship in Alanya; to give women the necessary skills and knowledge to develop their business, the opportunity to gain the courage to start their own business through successful examples of entrepreneurship.

Diplomatic mission project

Project results
  • A series of 6 training sessions was organised for Alanya women to promote their entrepreneurial skills, involving 55 participants, 6 of whom have started their own businesses.
  • Visits to Lithuania and Turkey for Lithuanian and Alanya women entrepreneurs were organised to get acquainted with local organisations helping women entrepreneurs to develop their businesses.

Development Cooperation with Türkiye

The strategic objectives of Lithuania's development cooperation policy have been determined based on the needs of the Middle East countries (Türkiye), the Programme of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, and the priorities of the EU’s Policy.

Sectoral priorities of the development cooperation strategy for the Middle East in 2022‒2025:

1) strengthening administrative and institutional capacity, transferring experience in the area of public sector reforms;

2) sustainable economic development;

3) the elimination of the preconditions for illegal migration.

Assistance to Turkey 

Lithuania has been implementing development cooperation projects in Türkiye, since 2017.

In 2017-2020, 4 development cooperation projects are being implemented with the funds of the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme for 35,5 thousand euros. Support was provided in the areas of regional development, scientific and business cooperation, and improvement of education system.

In 2021, two projects have been implemented in the area of women’s empowerment and- sustainable development, for which 19,4 thousand euros have been allocated.

In 2022, one project has been implemented in the area of environment and climate change, for which 24,8 thousand euros have been allocated.

Humanitarinian Aid

In 2016, Lithuania allocated 20 000 Eur humanitarian aid to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Syrian refugees in Türkiye.
