Lithuanian Humanitarian Aid Arrived in Armenia

Lithuanian humanitarian aid arrived in Armenia on the 14th of May, and was flown-in by a Lithuanian Air Force aircraft.  This is not only the first humanitarian aid brought from the European Union, but also the first flight of the Lithuanian and NATO Air Forces on this side of Ararat.

Avet Adonts, Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anahit Avanesyan, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health and the Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė welcomed the Lithuanian humanitarian aid at the Yerevan International Airport “Lithuania is an important strategic partner and our bilateral agenda is developing both dynamically and consistently. This support will provide a new impetus for the development of relations between the two countries," the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said.  According to the First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health, “these protective shields will make a significant contribution so that we can all together overcome the pandemic as soon as possible". “The challenge of the pandemic is global, it can only be overcome by joint efforts, which is why it is so important to help each other. For Lithuania, solidarity with the Eastern Partnership countries has never been just an empty word,” said the Lithuanian Ambassador.

Lithuanian humanitarian aid – 10,500 Lithuanian-made protective shields – was delivered to the medical personnel in nine Armenian hospitals including the Republican Armenian Infectious Diseases Hospital "Nork Marash", where COVID-19-infected patients are treated, including the most severe cases.

The humanitarian aid handover was widely covered by the local press:
